Alpine Climbing Course with LEAD Climb, Chengdu

Oct 1, 2016
1 min read

This past weekend I went to the mountains of Western Sichuan province to teach an introduction to alpine climbing course. We had over 50 very motivated students.

The course lasted 8 days where the first couple of days we got together and explained a bit of the theory behind the concepts we were going to study. The following few days we practice some techniques such as running belay, abseiling, moving on a rope team, self arrest and such. We slowly started hiking to base camp and acclimating as we went along. During summit push we had a very overcast day with strong winds on the summit ridge. We were unlucky not to see any of the beautiful summit views, but we all had a blast!!
